Annapurna circuit trekking gives you an opportunity to explore
Himalaya experience of your life time. This trek is one of contrasts
between the green terraced farmland of the Marshyangdi valley and the
semi-arid environs of Lower Mustang. The two areas are separated by the
Thorong La (5416m), which we must cross on a long day, to reach the
sacred site of Muktinath. The temple complex is a pilgrimage site for
both Hindus and Buddhists and when seen from here the sunrise on
Dhaulagiri is particularly striking. We descend into the world's deepest
river gorge, carved by the mighty Kali Gandaki, as it slices between
the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. The river is followed to the
relaxing hot springs at Tatopani before ascending to Poon Hill for our
last sunrise over the Annapurnas.
The Annapurna Circuit is one of the classic treks in the world and on the ‘must do’ list of any serious trekker or adventurer. The circuit takes one around the Annapurna Himal, following the courses of 2 mighty rivers: the Marsyangdi in the east and the Kaligandaki in the west, and takes one over the 5400m-high Thorung La Pass in between the upper reaches of the rivers. The Kaligandaki is the world’s deepest gorge, flanked by the giant Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himals. The flora, geography and culture also change dramatically around the circuit.
